Growing up my Christmas was Christmas Eve having my father's and mom's family visit with us after church services. Several people would be packed into our little family home. The next morning after we opened our presents we would make the short 10 mile trip to my maternal granparents home for Christmas dinner. So in 24 hours we were able to open all our presents and see all our family members. Living a few hours away from both sides of our family has now allowed us to expand our christmas, a mixed blessing. This year our Christmas began on December 23 at Grandma Murray's home. The kids were able to play with Brennan and Olivia and visit with mom's side of the family. Alex and Sophia opened some gifts and get a sweet taste about the joys of christmas when you are 4 and 7: PRESENTS!! Christmas eve we continued our tradition from last year by eating out at the local Japanese Steakhouse. Hibachi cooking is so YUMMY! The kids and grown ups never are bored with the flames and watching the chefs cook our food.
Christmas was an intimate family affair again this year. Spending all day in your pjs is the best. It made it much easier when I collapsed into to bed after a red wine and sausage stuffing coma.
The day after Christmas we drove to Aunt Carol's home to visit with the Kwasniewski family and Great Babci. More food, more family and more wine. We were able to stop by my mom's and grandparents second home-Turning Stone Casino, to take in their Christmas Decorations and more people watching. We were impressed with the gingerbread village. Sophia almost fell in but was saved by the poinsettas. Our Christmas continues through New Years Eve when the kids get to hang with the Pushlar/Brainard Cousins while the parents get a night out a nice dinner and some spirits.
